A rallying cry from Bush on terror
WASHINGTON President George W. Bush expressed solidarity with Britain on Monday, projecting a determination to prevail over terrorists like those behind the London bombings. And he insisted that while perfect protection was unattainable, solid progress had been made in protecting the U.S. homeland.
"In this difficult hour," Bush said, "the people of Great Britain can know the American people stand with you."
Addressing the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, he spoke admiringly of the resolve of Britons, and Londoners in particular, to carry on after the attacks Thursday that killed more than 50 people. At the time of the attacks, Bush was meeting with other world leaders in Scotland.
